NARCISSISTS MARRY UP AND DATE UP....

And here's why I think that is. By doing so, the narcissist wants someone who will make him look good....it's as if they are saying, “See who I'm with. I'm a heck of a guy.”

Then, since you are above him, he has to run you down privately, and perhaps to others when you don't realize it, simply because he knows you're the better person. It's weird, but in his mind, you have to be demeaned, put down, and belittled SO HE FEELS AT YOUR LEVEL, or even better than you are. But, in reality, he knows the truth.

  2. There's always the idea that they try to show they are supposedly good people for taking on those who "aren't as good as they are" or seemingly weak or needing of help.
They are saying look I'm a good person, this person doesn't deserve me but I'm with them and trying to help. They use people like that because they are easy targets. For instance my step son who is an addict and met his wife while he was in the half way house after 2 years of prison, and myself. I was a topless dancer with a troubled background when I met my ex narcissist. I was, and he is an easy target. Those with big hearts and low self-esteem are easy to pick up and keep around for long periods of time. I was lucky to recognize my worth and leave. Unfortunately my step son is still a target and I'm kind of a target because of who I am to him and the family. For a year or 2 she tried to play my family against me until they finally saw the light. Now she does everything to keep him away from us and he continues in his addiction due to his circumstances. While he was gone in prison again she tried to make me her pawn since he wasn't around and when I put my foot down that's when she started her games with the family. Hopefully it won't be much longer and we won't have to deal with her but unfortunately there is a little girl who's stuck in the middle of all this. One day there'll be peace for my family and granddaughter.
